GLOUCESTER starlet Jonny Hill has been ruled out of the Junior World Championship due to an ankle injury.
The second-row was one of three Cherry and Whites named in England’s initial squad ahead of their title defence in New Zealand last month.
But he has been forced to withdraw due to the injury and replaced by Saracens flanker Hayden Thompson-Stringer
Hill Tweeted: “Obviously gutted to miss out on the tour for the JWC this year due to injury. But all the best to the squad! Hope to be back playing soon.”
Harry Thacker and Tom Fowlie have also sustained injuries which have ended their Junior World Championship hopes with Cameron Neild and George Catchpole coming into the squad.
Head Coach Nick Walshe said: “It’s massively disappointing for the three guys missing out, but it provides a fantastic opportunity for the three players coming in.
“The great thing about this England Under 20 side is that we have strength in depth and we have every confidence that this squad will perform well in the competition.”
