A Gloucester bar owner lost £10,000 at the hands of a knife-wielding thief yesterday.

Justin Hudson, owner of Butlers, in Eastgate Street, was walking to the bank with two staff members.

A hoodied man lept out from a bus stop and demanded the money.

Mr Hudson was left with a fractured jaw during the incident which happened at around 3pm.

The 36-year-old said: "I've run the bar for 16 years now and nothing like this has ever happened before."

Police, who were on the scene quickly, have launched an investigation.

Anyone with information should call 101.

Justin tells all about his terrifying ordeal in Tuesday's Citizen.

3pm in broad daylight? It makes you think how safe you really are. Maybe have a member of staff drive you to the bank next time. Hope he recovers well.
