TAVIS Knoyle will quit Gloucester at the end of the season to return to Wales.
The 23-year-old scrum-half only moved to Kingsholm from the Scarlets at the beginning of the season but he has grown frustrated at a lack of opportunities.
He has started just two Premiership matches and played second fiddle to both Dan Robson and Jimmy Cowan.
It is understood he had at least another year to run on his deal with the Cherry and Whites and last week he outlined his desire to force his way into regular rugby.
But he is set to be released from his contract early and will join Cardiff Blues in the summer.
Cowan is also out of contract at the end of the current campaign and is yet to sign a new deal to remain at Kingsholm.
That leaves Robson as the only front-line scrum-half who will definitely be wearing Cherry and White. But he could be joined by Bristol’s Callum Braley, who is expected to join Nigel Davies’ men.
