DARREN Dawidiuk has welcomed the signing of Richard Hibbard.
The Gloucester hooker could be forgiven for being disheartened following the capture of the Wales and British Lions star for next season.
But he is relishing the opportunity to learn from and compete with the blond-bombshell for a starting position,
Dawidiuk said: “It’s a really good signing and a great positive for the team, the club and myself.
“Personally I see it as a positive – you need to learn from someone like Hibbard.
“I see it as a massive competition and that’s only going to drive the squad harder. I will have to push myself and improve as a player.
“I’m really looking forward to having that competition and working alongside him.”
The 26-year-old has been an ever-present feature in the Cherry and White pack this season, and after receiving plenty of criticism he reckons they are turning the corner.
He added: “In the last few games the pack has been going really well.
“We’ve had a good set-piece which is moving forward and we’re doing a lot of hard work in the week which is paying off on the weekend.
“It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can always learn new things.
“I’ve been lucky to have Huia Edmonds, Scotty Lawson, two internationals in the pack to learn from. I’ve been lucky in that respect.”
