OLD bicycles dumped at household recycling centres in Gloucestershire are being recycled by a charity.

Each week volunteers from the Gloucestershire Bike Project collect the bikes, carry out repairs on them and then put them on sale. More than 500 bicycles have been "rescued" this year alone and 200 of these came from household recycling centres. Meanwhile, they are tasking schools with a festive challenge to re-invigorate an old bike tyre by decorating it with re-used, recycled and scrap materials.
