HE is better known for his exploits on four wheels instead of two.

But that didn’t stop Top Gear’s Richard Hammond making a surprise appearance at the Prescott Bike Festival this weekend.

Turning up in his vintage Norton car, the TV presenter joined more than 4,000 other enthusiasts at the event on Sunday. The event’s main attraction is the hill climb, with all proceeds going to the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes and Severn Freewheelers.

Rebecca Leppard, publicity manager said: “It was a complete and utter surprise. He’s a big motoring enthusiast and he had a terrific time.

“We whizzed him up the hill in a Bugatti and he had lots of people taking his photo.

“He even did a stint in the commentary box – he threw himself into it, it was really helpful”.

Had a great time at the bike festival, hope lots of money was raised for the blood bikers. Richard Hammond was a nice chap and came across as a genuine motoring enthusiast when he was talking with the commentator over the PA!
