OLYMPIC champion Alex Gregory triumphed in the men's pair over his fellow GB teammates and rivals at the GB Rowing final trials.
Racing over 2000m at their training base in Caversham, Wormington rower Gregory, with World champion Mo Sbihi, beat double Olympic champion Andy Triggs-Hodge and Olympic bronze medallist George Nash by inches to claim the pairs title and with it, top spot in the team pecking order.
Chipping Campden rower Matt Gotrel finished fourth, racing with Paul Bennett.
Gloucester's Beth Rodford finished third in the women's single sculls.
Nailsworth Naval Officer and double Olympic champion Pete Reed pulled out for medical reasons, despite qualifying for the final of the men's pair with World champion Will Satch.
