FOREST GREEN ROVERS 0 WELLING UNITED 0
Ady Pennock was frustrated by his former club as Forest Green's Skrill Premier play-off hopes were dented.
A gusty wind inside the New Lawn made it tricky for both sides to provide consistent service to their forwards, the first shot in anger coming in the 15th minute when Rovers' James Norwood fired over from a half-cleared corner.
The home side suffered a significant blow in the 22nd minute when influential midfielder Marcus Kelly went down clutching his hamstring and had to be replaced by Jared Hodgkiss, meaning Chris Stokes was pushed forward from left-back.
They remained marginally the more dangerous side though, and Lee Hughes conjured up a swerving effort from 25 yards that was well watched and held by Lee Butcher.
In the 74th minute Sam Russell's long pass was controlled expertly by Norwood, who drove the ball across the six-yard box before substitute Luke Rodgers could react and apply the finishing touch.
Another sub Danny Wright turned provider with a cross from the right with five minutes left, only for Norwood to head wide under considerable pressure.
Rovers pressed hard at the death, and a slice of luck went the visitors' way on 89 minutes when Paul Green fed Rodgers for a shot that smashed Butcher in the face and was hacked to safety.
