Flood waters have forced the closure of the Toby Carvery pub The Dog at Over once again.

The pub restaurant, which has closed for the day, has been left flooded out by rising waters from the nearby River Severn and surface water from the A40, which is sits on.

In 2012 the pub had to rip up its carpets and it was closed after it was flooded.

General manager Sarah Marshall said: "This time it has only affected the front section of the pub so it wasn't anywhere near as bad as before but it is just my bad luck. It's the last thing we need right now.

"We noticed the water coming in at about 11.20pm last night and we've had the fire brigade out pumping the water out.

"We won't have to take up the carpets this time. We are cleaning them and we have got dehumidifiers on them and we will check them in a few days time."

I'd repeat - this is nothing to do with the Severn.

They could have protected themselves from this risk for relatively little cost so why haven't they bothered, that's correct they can just call the fire brigade to help them out!

This is all down to local floodwater from the torrential rain, and nothing to do with the Severn. The river is high, but nowhere near topping its banks.
