Firms boost pupils' job aspirations

PUPILS’ understanding of the world of work was greatly enhanced when their academy trust hooked up with local businesses.

So far a couple of dozen children from the two schools run by the Robinswood Primary Academy Trust in Gloucester have benefited from visits to nearby companies including the developers of a local motorway services area, a supermarket giant and a diesel fuel injection systems firm.

In turn business representatives have also spent time in the classrooms of both the Robinswood and Waterwell primaries helping the boys and girls with their project.

Teaching assistant Tricia Harding said the on-going scheme had hugely boosted the youngsters’ future employment aspirations.
