TOMORROW (SATURDAY FEBRUARY 11), TEWKESBURY: Opera lovers are in for a treat tomorrow as the series of live broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York continues at the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury.

The live performance of Richard Wagner's epic Gotterdammerung, starring Renée Fleming, Andreas Scholl, Stephanie Blythe and Joseph Kaiser, will be beamed to the big screen.

In the fourth and final opera of the Ring Cycle, which is sung in German, there is a dire warning from the Three Norns that the world of the gods is soon coming to an end.

It then rejoins lovers Siegfried and Brünnhilde in their mountain refuge just as Siegfried is about to set off on his adventures, leaving Brünnhilde hopefully in safety.

As a token of his love, he gives her the Ring, not knowing that it gives the wearer power but carries a deadly curse.

The screening starts at 5pm and lasts a whopping six hours and 24 minutes, with two intervals.

Tickets cost £20, with a multibuy discount available if you book to see three or more operas. To book, call 01684 295074.
