Fairford Town 6

Shrivenham 2

FAIRFORD Town progressed to the quarter-finals of the AM Print and Copy Floodlit Cup with this victory over Shrivenham.

The Reds made real strides in the second half but had to come back from a goal down to get the better of their Hellenic Premier Division opponents.

The visitors took the lead inside the opening ten minutes with a low drive from Paul Sanders finding the bottom corner of the net past Ben Mitchell from 20 yards out.

Steve Hall was then forced off with a knee injury for the hosts with Callum Parsons stepping off the bench.

Ashley Taylor, back in the starting line-up after injury, saw his bullet header parried by visiting keeper Jack Goodenough on 22 minutes as Fairford pressed for the leveller.

A second enforced change followed with Luigi Hernandez replacing Curtis at left-back.

The first of a trio of errors from Shrivenham arrived shortly before the break.

A long ball into the box was not dealt with by Goodenough and the ball somehow trickled over the line for the equaliser to make it 1-1.

Nine minutes after the restart and Fairford were ahead for the first time in the game.

A cross was spilt by Goodenough into his own defender and another own goal saw the score 2-1 to the Reds.

A fine team move involving Hernandez and Dan Bailey saw Pocock on hand to finish off the Fairford third.

Warren Fuller headed home the Shrivenham second just after the hour, but that was the last word from the visitors who were then dismantled by an impressive attacking display from Paul Braithwaite's side.

Further chances came and went for Dan Drewitt, Bailey and Pocock before Henry Traas finished off a sweeping move to make it five and substitute Parsons swept home the sixth in the closing stages of the game.

The young Fairford side can take much confidence from the victory into Saturday's Hellenic Supplementary Cup fixture at Milton United.
