DUNCAN Bell could be set for a return to the professional game, writes Laura Fell.
The former England and Bath prop last played a professional game two years ago, when he was 37.
But Bell has been approached by an unnamed club looking for injury cover at tighthead prop.
At first, Bell immediately rejected the thought of playing top flight rugby again after a long career but now admits he has since asked for more details about the contract.
The 39-year-old said: “I am considering it.
“But there is a lot to think about. I am head coach at Lydney, I have just got a new job and I have my family. The club is not in England.
“I played well for Lydney at the end of last season and have also played in some Barbarian Games so I know I can play to a reasonable standard against Championship players.
“But top level? I am very old! I have a big decision to make.
“I always said I wanted to retire at the top of my game and felt when I did call time on my career I was slightly in decline.
“I can’t believe I am considering it, but I am.”
Yesterday morning Bell tweeted: “2 years older, extra spare tyre round the midriff, knackered knees, grey hair, can't run. "yeah sure I'll do it" #mental.”
