Emergency services have been called to an accident between two cars in Southgate Street.

A blue car has hit traffic light pole after being involved in an accident with a black car.

A woman was taken to hospital after being cut out of the car by firefighters.

Two crews were called to the junction near Bristol Road just past midday today (Boxing Day).

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One duty officer also attended and confirmed that one female has been extricated by the crews and conveyed to hosptial by ambulance.

"The crews spent a total of fifty minutes at this incident."

The collision caused delays around the area while police and a recovery lorry assist at the scene.

No roads were closed, but traffic coming from the city via Southgate Street were unable to turn right towards Gloucester Quays, the Peel Centre and Sainsbury's on St Ann Way.
