PEOPLE in the city are being reminded not to let the flu ruin the festive period.
Gloucestershire County Council is encouraging residents most at risk from virus to protect themselves and their families in the lead-up to Christmas and the New Year.
Full protection from the flu vaccine takes up to two weeks to develop and the county council is advising people to act now.
Councillor Dorcas Binns, cabinet member for public health and communities, said: "Flu can knock even the healthiest people off their feet for a couple of weeks, which means it could end up taking over for the entire festive period. The last thing anyone wants is to be so seriously ill that they require hospital treatment."
