Matt Smith was the big winner at the National Television Awards as the winner of best drama performance in Dr Who.

Other winners on the night were Philip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and the rest of the This Morning team who won best daytime television show for the fourth year in a row.

Paul O’Grady’s For the Love of Dogs won best factual entertainment programme and best documentary series went to Educating Yorkshire - a fly on the wall show about a school.

Ant and Dec were up for four awards on the night and started the night in style with I’m a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here winning best entertainment programme.

BBC hit show Mrs Brown's Boys was voted as the best comedy.

It was also a big night for Eastenders actor Khali Best who walked off with best newcomer of the year.

The awards were presented by Dermot O’Leary and were shown live on ITV from the O2 arena in London.
