Crash victim cut from wreckage of car in Stroud

FIRE crews cut a crash victim free from a car after a smash in Stroud this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene outside the Co-op in Slad Road at around 1pm.

The roof was removed from a red Renault Clio which was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Police officers and ambulance crews are also at the scene and the woman in the car was taken out of the wreckage on a body board then transferred to a stretcher by paramedics.

She appeared to be conscious and had suffered a suspected neck injury, said police.

A force spokesman said the female driver of the Clio was 18 and from Stroud. She was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for a check-up.

Her car was involved in a collision with a grey Vauxhall Astra, driven by a 29-year-old Stroud man. He and another woman were not injured.
