A digger collapsed on a lorry at a construction site in Gloucester this morning.

The unit toppled over at the site of the new Morrisons and a new apartment block in Barnwood Road.

A spokesman for Barnwood Construction said: "Unfortunately, a subcontractor may have hit soft soil and it appears he has made a mistake and the digger toppled over. As part of normal health and safety practices, the area was cordoned off and no one was hurt.

"An investigation has begun to find out exactly what happened."

well, I for one am glad that normal health and safety practice doesn't require people to be hurt.

"As part of normal health and safety practices, the area was cordoned off and no one was hurt." A wonderful example of what can go wrong when you fail to construct your sentences correctly.

thestig2 as has been said repeatedly speed is not the largest factor in fatal incidents, I would say accidents but someone is almost always to blame!
