MOST employees of Stroud District Council earn around £20,000, a fair pay policy committee report has revealed.

In all, 106 members of staff are on salaries of £19,621 and a further 89 people at Ebley Mill get £23,708 gross, the paperwork shows.

The authority also has five apprentices on £9,581 and a single top earner on £108,609.

The committee is due to discuss the council executive's desire to see all its employees on a living wage.

The report's authors, chief executive David Hagg and head of corporate resources Allison Sharpe, say there will be "consultations with trade unions and staff during 2013 about the steps needed to implement the living wage policy".
