Copa has expanded into The Study
One of Cheltenham's busiest pubs has converted part of its
premises, which used to be student haunt The Study, into a
swish new eating area.
With the recently-opened extension, Copa in Regent Street
can now cater for an extra 72 people who want to sit down,
rising to 100 in the evening.
Manager Erica Loader said it was something the Greene
King-owned bar had been planning for over a year.
"The Study was a bit run down and tired but we were always
full in the front and would have people leaving at lunch times
because there wasn't enough seating," she said.
"We'd put in as many as possible but it was almost crowded.
With all the square footage out the back it seemed silly not to
be using it."
Erica said it was really important that people didn't feel
they were being put into an overspill area, and as a result the
brewery had invested a substantial amount of money to create a
trendy lounge style area with booths, modern fixtures and
fittings, wallpaper and leather seats.
There are also areas which can be sectioned off for office
parties and new toilets. Customers can now also walk in from
the Promenade side of town.
"The kitchen supplies both sides so it's the same food menu
and drinks," says Erica.
Copa serves food every day until 9pm.
