Citizen editor: Let's hope Ikea coming to Gloucester is not a load of old Swedish meatballs

IT is fair to say that the Peel Centre is rather past its best.

While there are some great businesses there, the look of the place is indeed looking a little bit tired.

We know this whole area is undergoing something of a renaissance with the Gloucester Quays development.

And there is more to come with the leisure plans which are on the way.

We wouldn't want to lose great brands such as Toys R Us so let's hope negotiations continue so that these stores take up spots at the revamped site.

More importantly, we need to secure more big leisure names as part of the development so it flourishes and helps draw the visitors into the city.

Already Wagamama, Carluccio's have been linked and Ikea has to be the biggest brand in the mix. Who knows if Chinese whispers will ever turn into actual Swedish meatballs served up in the city but wouldn't it be a fantastic coup for Gloucester if we did?

POOR Kate – it seems while she is often a winner in the fashion stakes, when it comes to hair, the Duchess of Cambridge has not received the best press of late.

Yet, while the sweeping Farrah Fawcett-style fringe may not have divided the critics her fans love her just the same.

Take heart Kate, not getting it right every time only goes to show you are just like the rest of us.

LOVE 'em or hate 'em, Christmas lights on the outside of houses do brighten up the street during the festive season.

As well as a great prize on offer with the Quays voucher, this year we are asking people to raise money for the James Hopkins Trust. After all children is what Christmas is all about.

the site is too small for an IKEA- many other sites on the ring roads or Hempsted bypass with parking spacves, etc.

Why is there a section about Kate Middleton's hair, a sentence about christmas lights outside houses and a sentence about raising money for the John Hopkins Trust at the bottom of this article?

I'd rather a new stadium for The Tigers be built there or at the Railway Triangle. Support for Sudmeadow is falling, and Gloucester City have wasted £250k on the project to date - the same amount could have got them a kick-ass Conference Premier squad.
