Two children were rescued from mud on a building site in Lydney yesterday evening.
Fire and rescue crews were called out to a site next to the old golf course after the youngsters had got stuck up to their knees whilst playing on the site.
They managed to rescue both the children without any injury.
The incident took place at around 6pm.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it was a lucky escape.
A spokesman said: "This incident highlights the dangers of children playing on building sites. Both children were extremely lucky on this occassion but the outcome could have been very different."
