CHILDREN at Longlevens Junior School got to grips with a business project to raise money for their school.

Year 3 pupils wrote, illustrated and made their own books which were read out to parents at a coffee morning on Friday.

The books had an Easter theme and the children made puppets to help tell their stories.

They then auctioned off the books and raised £485 for the school.

Teacher Laura Davis said: “They learnt so much from this project including writing and reading skills and they gained confidence speaking in public.”

Sainsbury’s provided refreshments for the coffee morning.

The children also read the stories at local nurseries.
