KEITH Lowe says he was lost for words after being named as Cheltenham Town's Supporters' Player of the Year.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers right-back was rewarded for his reliable and at times surprisingly flamboyant performances with the accolade, which he received after last week's home match against Shrewsbury Town.

"It's brilliant to know the fans have appreciated the work I have tried to put in for the team this season and I can't put into words how much it means," Lowe said.

"It's brilliant and I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and hopefully I can repay the fans' faith and do the same again next season."

Lowe has been ruled out of the last seven matches of the campaign with an ankle injury picked up in the home defeat by Gillingham on March 27.

But after a frustrating time at Hereford United last year, he rates his first season as a permanent Robins player as the best of his career so far.

"I think it's been my most consistent season," he said.

"A lot of it for me is down to confidence. The gaffer (Mark Yates) has put his trust in me and hopefully we've seen the benefits of that.

"I wanted to be playing week-in week-out and apart from two injuries that's what I have done."

■ Cheltenham Town will hold a fans' forum with chairman Paul Baker and manager Mark Yates on Monday evening in the Premier Suite bar at the Abbey Business Stadium (7.30pm). Entry is free and all supporters are welcome.

■ Former Robins player and coach Bob Bloomer has started a charity bike ride that will see him cover more than 850 miles in ten days.

Bloomer left Bristol Rovers' Memorial Stadium yesterday and is due to arrive at Whaddon Road tomorrow afternoon at around 4pm via Portsmouth, Oxford and Swindon. Bloomer is raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Anyone wanting to back his efforts can donate through www.justgiving.com/bob-bloomer.
