INTERNATIONAL cellist Anup Kumar Biswas visited Stroud High School on Monday for a unique concert performance. One of the world's leading cellists, Anup was born in West Bengal, India, and went to a mission school in Calcutta where his musical talent was recognised. He went on to study with Pierre Fournier in Geneva and Jacqueline du Pre in London. Anup established the Mathieson School for deprived children in Calcutta in 1994, and he returns every year.

He spent the day in Stroud High School giving workshops and speaking about the Mathieson Music School which Stroud High pupils are supporting and plan to visit in February 2014 as part of a school India trip. He gave an evening recital at the school.
