CHUTNEY and jam makers have been left in a pickle by burglars who drove off with a van packed with preserves and porridge.
The Kitchen Garden Preserves Vauxhall Vivaro was ready to go on a delivery round when burglars forced their way in, stole the keys and stole thousands of poundsworth of chutneys, jams and porridge.
“They have driven away with a sign-written van which should be easy to spot,” said Barbara Moinet who has run the Salmon Springs, Stroud-based firm with her husband Robin for almost 25 years.
“I don’t know if they were looking for our products or not. It won’t be that easy to sell on. It’s certainly been a sticky business for us.”
Police said the van, registration VU11VMX, contained several thousand poundsworth of jam and chutney. It also contained the firm’s Wolfy’s Porridge. It has www.kitchengardenpreserves.co.uk emblazoned on the side.
The break-in happened between 5pm on Wednesday, April 9 and 6.55am on Thursday, April 10.
Anyone who has been offered Kitchen Garden Preserves jam or chutney, of Wolfy’s Porridge, should call police on 101, quoting incident number 57 of April 10.
