ALTHOUGH she has not released an album in the past year, Ellie Goulding scooped the best British Female Solo Artist at the Brits awards last night.

Meanwhile rock legend David Bowie picked up best British Male Solo Artist, although he was not there in person to collect the award.

Arctic Monkeys won both best group and best album for the third time while Bastille won best British Breakthrough Act.

X-Factor boyband, One Direction collected the Best Video award for their hit single, Best Song Ever. The group also picked up the award for International Group.

Waiting All Night, by Rudimental ft. Ella Eyre won the best British Single, while Bruno Mars picked up the best International Male Solo Artist.

Lorde scooped best International Female Solo Artist and Daft Punk won International Group.

The Critics’ Choice award was given to Sam Smith, while Flood and Alan Moulder won best British Producer Of The Year award.
