Arrest made following sexual assault in Cheltenham

POLICE investigating a sexual assault in Trinity Lane in Cheltenham have made an arrest in connection to the incident.

The assault happened at around 7.55am on Sunday. A 17-year-old girl was walking along the lane when she was approached by a man who sexually assaulted her before walking away.

A 45-year-old local man was arrested last night on suspicion of sexual assault. He currently remains in police custody.

Investigating officers would like to thank the community for their help with their enquiries. Following a public appeal, a number of people came forward with information.

Gloucestershire Police continue to appeal for anyone with any information about the incident to call them on 101, quoting incident number 164 of December 9.
