A former Archdeacon of Gloucester, Geoffrey Sidaway, has died.
Bishop of Gloucester The Rt Rev Michael Perham issued the following statement this morning:
"It is with great sadness that I need to report that Geoffrey Sidaway died, after his long illness, on the evening of Easter Day.
"Geoffrey came to the diocese from Canterbury and was Archdeacon of Gloucester from 2000 to 2012.
"He will be sorely missed by many of us and we extend to Margaret and their family our deep sympathy and our gratitude for the ministry of a wonderful priest and archdeacon. In the faith of the resurrection we commend him with affection and thanksgiving to God.
"His funeral will be held on Monday 12 May at 10am in Gloucester Cathedral"
