Protesters will challenge councillors when they visit the site planned for Gloucestershire's incinerator at Haresfield.

Gloucestershire County Council's planning committee will visit the Javelin Park site on March 14 to look at where the £500 million energy-from-waste plant would be built if they give it permission.

But campaign groups will descend on the area at 9.30am to let their views be known to decision makers.

The protest has been organised by campaign group GlosVain, which has an anti-incinerator campaign for several months.

But a decision will be made by Gloucestershire county councillors on March 21 at a public meeting at 10am at Kingsholm Stadium.

They're visiting at the wrong time! They should have visited the week of 19th Nov 2012 (see film taken by a local resident) It flooded to about 3 feet deep on 21st and 24/25th Nov. https://http://tinyurl.com/czlhbaa The council paid over £7Million for this site. After the flooding it is now worthless! UBB think they're going to dig a hole 40 feet deep for a waste pit here. Good luck with that!

Councilwonk - quite right to familiarise with planning issues applicable to the site and separate those such as the misguided public outcry that are not based on planning rules. The only way protest groups can challenge will be through legal action through the High Court supported by expert evidence why planning should be refused.
