WHAT was hovering above Gloucester earlier this month?

City visitor Tony Perry doesn't believe the slow-moving object over Barnwood was a bird, an aeroplane, or a Chinese lantern.

The businessman watched the UFO from the back of his mum's house while he nipped out for a late night cigarette. "Before I saw this I thought 99per cent of sightings were fake or mistaken," he said.

"I wish I had never seen this object as I cannot explain what it was."

Tony, from Winchester, was visiting his mum in the city when he saw a bright light in the sky.

"I thought it might be some kind of new lazer that pubs and clubs use to publicise themselves, then I realised it was coming towards me," said Tony, who saw it at 10.45pm on Friday, April 6.

He said it was flying at around 500 to 700ft – he lives near a helicopter base and is familiar with the 500ft flypasts there.

"I had a good sight of it because it was below the level of the cloud."

He was puzzled by the lack of noise and no discernible fuselage.

"I could not see the outer shell, there were just eight or nine orange lights."

He believes it was travelling at around 30mph, below stalling speed to most aircraft. The last time he saw it, it was travelling towards the Air Balloon roundabout at Birdlip.

"I have no idea what it was. All I know is that it was unidentified, it was flying, and it was an object."

@ Tonyperry1957 I've also witnessed something very similar - I'm in the Forest of Dean. I report my sightings here http://tinyurl.com/7ugktez I reported one sighting similar to yours a year or two ago and many other people reported the exact same thing, from all over the country. As far as I'm concerned, no Chinese lantern would hang about, slowly moving in all directions and then speeding off and being out of sight within one to two seconds.

There are some odd things going on Angel. I have a feeling they're USAF jets. I don't believe it was an exercise because they wouldn't be doing that so low over inhabited areas because of flight restrictions, people noticing etc. Being USAF, they have plenty of forestry over by their air base in Suffolk, why here? The Brecon Beacons are only 10-15 miles away. If they were on their way back from the Beacons they'd be flying a good few thousand feet higher. We've seen a few strange things here, both in the daytime and at night. We're too sensible to freak out at satellites and lanterns btw, we've been researching this for years!

Thats funny Beverley, because a few weeks a go 2 euro fighters were scrambled and came over gloucester with the pretence it was a helicopter haveing problems (it was in the news paper ) but why scramble 2 euros for that not police or emergancie services ????????? they only scramble 2 when they are intercepting, strange things happening in gloucester !!!

Just had a shock - two military jets flew right over our house at literally a couple of hundred feet, they were chasing some sort of aircraft with an intense bright white light that didn't make a sound. Whatever it was prompted the military to break out the big boys. It happened about 20 minutes ago at 11pm. My husband saw it all and I heard both the vets, they were so loud I went to duck. I live in Cinderford and the three aircraft were heading in a south-easterly direction so I'm hoping someone in Gloucester saw it happen? Please email if you did magicroundabout1@hotmail.com Ta!

Tony - no formation, and I couldn't swear to the number of lights, either. Asked to guess at my memory I'd have said there were 6 or 7, fairly close together, but who knows. All I can say is that one came down in the field opposite - and never having seen one before, I was surprised at how big they are!

During visits to Gloucester - I have often come across beings that, although superficially take on a human form, are indeed extra terrestrial creatures.
