For the fifth year in a row Gloucester's tourist information centre team has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The announcement makes them one of the top four tourist centres in the whole of the UK – and now they just have to find out whether they have won gold, silver, bronze or highly commended
.The team deals with thousands of visitors to the city every year and the judging for the Visit England Excellence Awards 2014 takes account of all aspects of their performance and service. They have won a string of regional and national awards since 2009.
Council Leader Paul James, commented: "This is brilliant news for the council, the team, our residents and visitors. To produce such a consistent standard of service year after year is testament to the level of service and dedication shown by them.
"Tourism is a key area of our local economy and we get a huge number of people visiting the city and surrounding areas every year. The team put in a sterling performance day after day and we are immensely proud of them and their achievement."
The announcement of their actual award will be made in May.
